The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded an investigation into the alleged foreign links and funding behind the Opposition-led protest seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
On Tuesday, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of promoting what he described as the “politics of violence, anarchy and regime change”.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Bhatia referred to alleged revelations from a media sting operation. He also raised questions about the protest’s funding, the role of women protesters, and the involvement of foreign organisations.
However, the allegations have not been independently verified.

BJP Questions Opposition Protest Against CEC
The Opposition parties recently staged a protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The demonstration was part of a series of protests by Opposition parties over issues concerning the country’s political and electoral systems.
Earlier, Opposition leaders had also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following allegations surrounding the NEET paper leak controversy.
Meanwhile, the BJP has raised concerns over the alleged funding and foreign connections of the recent demonstrations.
Gaurav Bhatia Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Promoting Anarchy
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi during the press conference.
He alleged that Opposition parties were attempting to achieve a change in government through violence and disorder after failing to gain power through elections.
Bhatia said India’s democratic system, respect for the Constitution, and political stability were among the country’s greatest strengths.
He further accused the Opposition of attempting to weaken these institutions by joining hands with what he described as anti-national forces.
The BJP spokesperson also criticised Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mamata Banerjee, making political predictions about their electoral prospects.
BJP Refers to France, Nepal and Bangladesh
During the press conference, Bhatia referred to political developments in France, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
He questioned whether the Opposition was attempting to create similar situations in India through its protest strategy.
According to Bhatia, the alleged objective was to create instability and undermine the country’s democratic institutions.
However, these claims were made by the BJP spokesperson, and no independent evidence establishing such a strategy was presented in the report.
BJP Raises Questions Over Role of Women Protesters
Bhatia also questioned the alleged strategy of placing women at the forefront of demonstrations.
He claimed that police personnel generally exercise restraint while dealing with women protesters.
According to the BJP spokesperson, this could potentially be used to create controversy over police action and damage the image of the Delhi Police.
These allegations have not been independently verified.
BJP Questions Funding of Opposition Protest
The BJP also raised questions about the facilities reportedly available at the protest site.
Bhatia claimed that the demonstration initially involved tents and mats. However, he alleged that facilities such as air conditioners, coolers, water, burgers, and pizzas were subsequently made available.
He questioned the source of the money being spent on the demonstration.
The BJP spokesperson also referred to alleged funding of ₹5 lakh per day and questioned whether organisations such as Progressive International were involved.
He further raised questions about the alleged links between these organisations and Sonia Gandhi.
However, the claims regarding funding and organisational involvement have not been independently established.
BJP Says Opposition Is Attempting to Weaken Democracy
The BJP accused Opposition parties of attempting to weaken India’s democratic institutions by working together.
Bhatia claimed that the Opposition was seeking to achieve political objectives through methods other than electoral victories.
He also said that senior BJP leaders were conducting public awareness campaigns to protect democracy and oppose what the party described as anarchy.
The BJP has demanded an investigation into the alleged foreign connections and funding of the protest.
